It's that time of year again - reflecting on 2024 and then planning for 2025. Usually in my best of post, I sum up the whole year, but this year, since I have quarter posts of what I've done (and a fourth quarter post to come), I've decided to just highlight my favourites in each of my categories (quilts, challenges, journal making, art quilts, mindful stitching/embroidery and miscellaneous projects). Recently a former co-worker-turned-friend called me and asked the standard opening question - How are you? Unable to hide my sadness, because I had received yet another rejection email, I replied - I've been better.

I've been better

2024 was a horrible, terrible, very bad year for many reasons. Paul's mom passed. I lost my job. We were in a car crash. And those are just personal reasons. I cannot even begin to fathom the angst of the planet.

In a year so dark, it is easy to pinpoint the two bright spots:

The Best of 2024 from With Strings Attached

"Best of" and "year in review" lists are everywhere this week. There are roundups of op-eds, celebrity deaths, the primary-to-convention-to-election, sports, movies and televison, theater, and music -- and my bailiwicks of quilts and books.

I will post the Annual Reckoning (fabric used and acquired) and 2025 goals tomorrow.

This was my second full year of being retired. I learned some lessons last year and made some different choices for this year. Not sure I've got it all figured out, but I'm in a better place this year than I was last year. I think that showed in my blog posts.
